Today’s strip comes from something that happened, well, in the last few weeks, actually. I realized I had some graduation money left over, and hadn’t really done anything with it, so I took the plunge, and did the thing I’d only been talking about doing for so long…

No, not that thing…

I’m talking about buying Buffy: The Chosen Collection, of course! Every single episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer ever made, in one giant box. I gotta say, between this and Warcraft, my days are booked solid. I also picked up the seasons I was missing of ‘Angel,’ (which… might be a better show? who can say?) which rounded out my set nicely.

I tell you, the real joy is in taking some of my friends through the series – friends who hadn’t seen Buffy before – and watching them connect with it and become emotionally involved just like I was when I went through and watched it all for the first time.

In any case, I owe Mr. Whedon a debt of gratitude. Thank you, sir, for making something that I love, that effects me emotionally, that resonates with the things I struggle with, and speaks to them profoundly – and, that has awesome fights where monsters and vampires get stomped by a girl…

And, ultimately, thank you for destroying my social life by drawing me into something I can’t stop watching.
