Dallas Comic-Con

Wednesday, April 2nd, 2008

In case you missed the annoucement – I’ll be at the Dallas Comic-Con this weekend, April 5th-6th, and so will a slew of other awesome artists, cartoonists, and actors. It’s also a great place to stock up on comics and graphic novels, since you can often get great stuff dirt cheap! Click this link to find out who all’s gonna be there, and about a bazillion reasons for you to come on out, if you’re in the DFW area.

I’ve got books at discounted prices, and I’ll be doing sketches, so come check it out. You can see some of my past sketches at my deviantart page.

Hope to see you there!

So, about today’s strip – 2 bands have done this to me: Superchunk, and Ova Looven. Releasing recordings ONLY on vinyl… I mean, come on! I don’t have a record player, so I can’t own the songs. Even if I DID have a record player, I couldn’t put them in my iPod and enjoy the songs anywhere outside of the one room where the record player lives. That is horrible marketing!

It’s like me making this site password protected or something… you have to log in to see my comics! That’s how good they are! Ha ha, face!

No, thats stupid. And as much as it pains me to say… those bands are stupid for doing it.

On a totally unrelated note, I’m gearin’ up for Dallas Comic-Con tomorrow…

Is it tacky for an exhibitor to wear superhero T-shirts to a con? Surely it’s awesome, and not passe… I would wear my T-shirt with a picture of a little kid picking his nose, but I’ve worn it so much it has holes in it now…

Weep for me.

Man, got back from Dallas Comic-Con, and I’m exhausted… full report to come later.

Here’s a new comic, though. Music jokes are fun.

Speaking of: the funniest music joke ever is this.

Nighty night…

Dallas Comic-Con!

Man, DCC was great! I want to thank everybody that came out and hung out with me at the show, I met some awesome people and had some great conversations. It’s always a pleasure meeting fans and newcomers.

I was fortunate enough to be sitting right next to Nate Bramble – for the second time – whose stuff is really funny and awesome to look at. In addition to being a great cartoonist, he’s a super nice guy, and very encouraging. He pushed me into drawing feet, which is something I rarely do, because, well, feet are hard to draw!

On the other side of me were the minds behind “How it Should Have Ended,” which is a hilarious site full of cartoons that parody movies, making the endings that would have made the movies WAY better, or atleast funnier. I’ve actually been a fan of the site for quite some time, and it was great to hang out with them.

I also got to see Bobby Blakey again, who is always fun to hang with, and who is a pretty awesome cartoonist as well.

I had the great pleasure of bringing some friends of mine who had never been to a comic con before in their lives, and seeing the joy on their faces as they took pictures with Klingons was enough to bring tears to my nerd eyes… I was also surprised by some old friends showing up, who I hadn’t seen in a LONG time, and it was great to connect with again.

All in all, a great, successful show for all involved!

If you’re new here to the site, welcome! Look around, and make yourself at home – there’s a ’storylines’ page at the top, which is a great place to start reading, as is the ‘cast’ page, which give you the rundown on all our major players. For the serious readers, check out the ‘archive’ which lists every strip by title and date.

Feel free to leave comments! I love talking to you guys, and I love when you guys talk to each other. See ya later!
