On the  subject of today’s strip, I think it’s funny to make fun of what a lot of people call “creative research,”even though its a very necessary, and often difficult, part of the process. Making up stories might be easy, but making up good ones is less easy (think about the ratio of bad movies you’ve seen to good movies), and creative research helps, although, essentially it is sitting around making stuff up.

It reminds me of when I was in jazz school. Some of my hardest classes were “improvisation” classes where we learned how to improvise intelligently. Those classes were more work, and a higher difficulty than anything I had taken previously. No one else understood this. They just laughed at me and said, “must be easy, you just get to make stuff up, right?” Well, making stuff up is harder than it looks.

Unfortunately, I think Frizz is about to learn that lesson the hard way. Stay tuned!
