Post It Comics, Vol. II

Friday, July 11th, 2008

It’s been a while since our last one, but it’s time once again for another edition of “Post-It Comics™”!!! Click on the thumbnail below to view the full size comic.

At work, me and guy in the cube next to me spend a decent portion of our day making these, totally improvised. One of us starts with a panel, and then we alternate, making up a story as we go along. I use the word “story” loosely here…

In any case, his panels are on the left, mine are on the right. Enjoy today’s bonus comic, and stay tuned for future installments of Post-It Comics™!

Go Get Her, Ray!

Monday, July 14th, 2008

Ray (short for Raegan) is a character that continues to surprise me. I originally brought her in to just provide both another female perspective, but also to be the one cast member that wasn’t a total geek, to give some sort of contrast with the normal dorks. But, as I started writing her, a person started emerging that was sort of like that, but different. This storyline happened, and it showed me a lot about Ray’s character, about what kind of person she was, and what kind of past she’s had.

For the first time, I really feel like I’m writing a character that has very little in common with myself, and I feel like I’m getting to know her as I write her, and she’s not a person thats easy to get to know. The other characters, for me, are somewhat predictable, I know how they’ll react to most situations, but Ray is a total Wild Card. Her “relationship”with Frizz continues to surprise me in strange, and sometimes disturbing ways, but it’s a really fun experience.

Later this year, you’re going to learn a lot more about Ray, and find out more about this band she’s in… I’m looking forward to it!

Oh, and yes, she’s a bass player. Obviously. There’s nothin’ hotter than a fine woman with a bass guitar.

Got My Tickets

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

This is how unfair the universe is (or how petty my life has become, depending on how you view it). My roommate’s girlfriend rolls in a few days ago, all happy and joyful, and full of life. Upon inquiring about her jovial mood, she tells me that she’s already seen “The Dark Knight.” Yeah. This girl is not a dedicated fan of Batman comics, who knows little to nothing about the character who hasn’t spent hundreds of dollars on animated series episodes, comics, and toys, and doesn’t even know the origin of Two-Face. But SHE’S the one that gets to see the advance screening of the new film.

Where’s the justice in that?

In response to this, I promptly bought my ticket to the midnight show nearest me, even though I have to get up early the next morning, go to work, then drive down to Austin for an RX Bandits show, and stay up late there… I think it’s obvious to everyone that I made the right call.
Whew! I’ve got a crazy weekend ahead of me… should be the best weekend ever.

Also, today’s joke might be the worst,  or best joke ever…
