The R.A. blues

So apparently Frank can build speakers. Add that to the list of crazy things he can do. Maybe there’s more to Frank than meets the eye…

…maybe there’s less…

For you youngun’s who don’t know, “RA” stands for “Resident Assistant,” its the person who helps you move in and out, who gets you in trouble if you do something wrong in the dorms, and a person who you can go to for advice, or a shoulder to cry on (the latter applies to female RAs only).

My old RA was some kind of technological nightmare come to life — his room was always strewn with wires, bits of playstations taken apart and hooked into robot cats, with prototype warp coils stuffed under the bed. He had the weirdest gigantic speakers I’ve ever seen, they were like the monolith from 2001, except sound came out, and sometimes creatures from a parallel dimension…

Once it took him like 10 nervous minutes to ask me if I was indeed a reader of comic books, and if I would be able to draw him a picture of the Bat-Man as a poster for our hall. It was like he was embarrassed to ask, partly because if I thought comics were dumb, he would look dumb, and if I thought comics were awesome, he was afraid I would think he was dumb for not knowing everything about them. He must be in a tough spot having to remember everything about all those different guys, so I only gave him a 10 minute lecture about not knowing the Earth-2 alternate history of Batman, as opposed to the full hour.

Ah, I miss that guy.
