End is the Beginning

Monday, January 12th, 2009

So we reach the end of our little New year’s tale, and we can begin to move on into the future. I hope you enjoyed the story, this one was really fun for me to write and draw. Now it’s time for the new storyline, wherein Frizz becomes a high paid attorney.

STAPLE!

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009

I’m proud to announce I’ll be joining the list of exhibitors at the “STAPLE!” show in Austin, TX, on March 7th. Head over to www.staple-austin.org for more info on this awesome indie-art show. There’s a really impressive list of artists, and webcommickers attending this shindig, it’s sure to be a blast. Plus, Austin is one of the coolest cities, ever. So come check it out!

About today’s strip… hmm… let’s don’t be too quick to make fun of Darin’s “Splish Splash.” It was a hit for a reason, people.

But I think my favorite part of radio stations that refuse to change their ways is the jingle for the stations name and call letters. Somehow they get a group of studio singers — some crazies in turtlenecks who think “Manhattan Transfer” is the greatest peak western music has ever achieved — to sing the call letters and station ID in ridiculous 24-part harmony. It’s kindof like watching “Army of Darkness,” you know it should be the worst thing you’ve ever heard, but you really want to hear more…

So I guess it’s good marketing after all…

…anyone want to sing a “Dorm Dorks” jingle?

New Album

Friday, January 16th, 2009

I’ve had to do exactly what Chuck is doing in today’s strip several times.

On a completely unrelated note, the new “Film School” album, entitled “Hideout,” is really great, I’ve been listening to it nonstop for several days now. It doesn’t have the happy pop of their last record, which I think is a good change. They’ve added a little bit of a shoegaze element, and focused on more introspective, sadder songs. Check it out if you’re into that.
