Yeah, so I don’t know what caused this (as if I knew how any of these types of things are caused for me) but I am totally on a Led Zeppelin kick right now. Obviously this is not news — Zep was a favorite band of mine through all of High School — bassist John Paul Jones was probably my biggest influence during the early years of me learning bass — I even named my first bass “Jonsey” after the legendary low-end master.

But during college and since then, I’ve drifted away form them, not because of dislike, but because of other things. Jazz, electronica, britpop, andjust about everything else has taken my interest away from my roots, but for some reason I have had a craving to get the Led out lately. I quickly realized that much of my catalog was lacking. My favorite album “Houses of the Holy” and a few other gems were imported into iTunes long ago, but there was several albums that I used to own only on ancient cassete tapes — long since lost to the ravages of time. “Physical Graffiti,” “In Through the Out Door,” and even “IV” (or “Zoso,” if you prefer) were completely absent.
I simply HAD to get these as soon as possible. I went wild, unable to buy them at work, I was clawing wildly anywhere on the internet trying to find streaming versions of the classics. How could I live without “Carouselambra” at my fingertips? This morning I thought I was going to have a heart attack if I didn’t hear “When The Levee Breaks” right that second…
Well, I’m happy to say the situation has been remedied. The albums I once treasured are now back in my safe, loving hands, thanks to the internet. I’m also glad that iTunes carries Zepp now — for the longest time they were unavailable. Let’s all breathe a sigh of relief…
Bonus track: I couldn’t pass up the ZZ Top Best Of while I was searching. They are the best driving music ever, hands down.
