Fail Whale?

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

I think Twitter has discovered that I make fun of it with this latest story. It started not showing a lot of posts, and then showing them later, not loading right, and other sorts of internet tomfoolery. Maybe the joke here should really be that the techno-organic twitter hive mind is constantly failing at things, and just very ineffecient? I’ll workshop that…

In related news, anyone else catch that Star Trek: The Next Generation marathon on Sci-Fi this week? I watched 2 episodes, and one of them miraculously happened to be the first appearance of the Borg. It must be fate…

And speaking of emotionally dead hive minds out to destory your culture… it’s tax day today, so don’t die. I’m still missing W-2’s from various companies. Go America.

Media Room

Friday, April 17th, 2009

In my old dorm, we had a Media Room kinda like this. I mean, there were two. There was a main media room that was always open, and people kinda filtered in and out all day. You were pretty guarunteed to catch some good Dragonball Episodes in there at any given time of the day.

But then, there the OTHER media room…

The one that you had to have a key to get into, that was a tiny, dirty, poorly-ventilated room with nothing but a very old model tv and VCR, and a dirty couch that had very questionable stains on it. I’m saying, it could have been a spilled Slurpee, or it could have been…  …something else…

In any case, I went in there one time to watch a movie ’cause I found the original Michael Keaton “Batman” film on VHS for like 3 bucks somewhere, and I didn’t have a way to play VHS tapes, which even then were quite archaic. Needless to say, the movie was a lot scarier than it ever had been, even with the lights on in the room the whole time.

especially with the lights on…

Pressed for Time

Man it was really down to the wire to get this comic finished in time! This weekend really took it out of me, although it ended up being great. I played a wedding gig on saturday that was really fun. Being in a wedding band is kinda crazy, sometimes it’s the most fun ever, and sometimes it is a terrible, horrible existence. This weekend was fortunately the former. Great crowd, great energy, lots of dancers, and an open bar. Nothing helps you rock all night like straight scotch!

Despite how rushed I ended up being on today’s strip, I really like how the dialogue ended up. A lot times I change a strip’s dialogue as I write, even after I’ve drawn it, and I’ll kindof riff on ideas in my head until I get it just right, and I like the way this one ended up. Even if Chuck’s way of describing a kiss is pretty disturbing…
