Storm’s ‘a Comin’

Whew, last night was crazy! If you’ve been following my Twitter, you may have noticed that there was a tornado a few blocks from my house. It was real weird to be watching the coverage on TV, seeing lightning in the windows and on the tv at the same time. Hearing them say, “lets zoom in on the worst of it,” and watch them zoom in on my neighborhood.

I love thunderstorms, especially these ridiculous raging ones we get in Texas. It doesn’t rain a whole lot in this state, but when it does, it’s not a simple kind of rain, it’s always some monster of mother nature whose entire goal is to kill you. I’m from here, though, and this was hardly the first Tornado experience I’ve had. The only real problem was that the power went out, and was out for pretty much the whole night. Didn’t come back on until about 1 am, and I couldn’t sleep until after that, then a second wave of storms came through this morning and was awesome, although I couldn’t sleep through them… I’m on about 4 hours and I’ve got a full day ahead.

But, it was all worth it, I love a good storm, and this one did not dissapoint. Well done, nature…. well done….

I agree. I like storms, as long as they don’t interrupt my entertainment for the evening. Thankfully the power stayed on for us.

The only area where I differ is that, in my experience, we get plenty of wimpy rain around here. If you’ve ever seen it rain while the sun was shining, it usually ends up being wimpy rain.

I remember back in HS that night you had a gig in Lewisville and the tornado went right over the building if I recall? Or something? I mean, I know high schoolers NEVER EXAGGERATE, but it was something to that degree, yes?

    Good times…

That was awesome! I’m so glad you remember that! I remember seeing the tornado across the street as we watched. Fun times in Texas!

Hello DD’ers. Sorry it has been so long since I’ve posted, but that is how I roll. I had to post in regard to Raychel’s comment…that story is 100% true and 100% awesome…our old band played a show at a church in Lewisville and during our set a tornado touched down basically 100 yards from the church. The place lost power for a bit and they made everyone gather in the center of the room. We played made-up, unplugged songs while we waited for the power to come back. Legendary 1000 MFA Tornado Show, awesome memory!

I, unfortunately, was not at that show that day (one of the very few 1000MFA shows I missed). I had a cast party to attend that evening, but I think my sister went to the show. She said I would have freaked the eff out (I was notoriously über afraid of tornadoes).
